CORONA X PARLEY JOIN WSL AT BELLS BEACH
Surfers have an unparalleled connection to the sea. They know the ocean and its rhythms like no other group. They're the first to see the threats, and are therefore the perfect ambassadors for the cycle of change we need to end the destruction.
In collaboration with Corona and World Surf League, we brought the Corona x Parley vision for Parley AIR and 100 islands protected to the 2018 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach championship.
During the Corona Highline event, surfers Matt Wilkinson, Johanne Defay, Jordy Smith and Silvana Lima surfed on identical twin-fins created with purpose, through eco innovation. The Corona x Parley surfboards were made using non-toxic, plant-based epoxy resins and upcycled foam cores by a collaborative team including Marko Foam and Sustainable Surf. They were shaped by world renowned Gary McNeil of Byron Bay, Australia.
Special edition Corona x Parley fins were made in collaboration with Bureo from upcycled fishing nets found in Chile.
All jerseys worn in the Corona Highline heat were made from Parley Ocean Plastic™, our catalyst material created from upcycled plastic waste intercepted from shorelines, open sea and in coastal communities.
Parley ambassador Greg Long joined Joe Turpel and fellow big wave surfer Martin Potter during the highline event live broadcast on the WSL Facebook page. He shared the vision and strategy of Parley and the unique role of surfers in the movement for change.
In addition to the highline event, surfers and attendees were encouraged to stop by the Corona x Parley pavilion to learn more about the cause and commit to action with personal pledges for the oceans.
