Founded in 2019, our program in Argentina is tackling plastic pollution in both urban areas and some of the country’s most remote regions. With over 3,000 miles of coastline stretching down to Patagonia and two major rivers joining in the world’s only river-to-river delta near Buenos Aires, there’s a lot to cover.
“Protecting people, nature and communities is not something one person can do alone. It requires everyone: every voice, all forms of knowledge, every perspective from society and the community. That's where the magic happens: when we build together.”
Rocio Prado – Parley Argentina Country Manager
CITY, RIVER and coastal cleanups
From dense urban areas to rivers, wetlands and coastlines, Parley’s program in Argentina focuses on ambitious cleanups, education initiatives and hands-on expeditions across the country. By harnessing the power of sport, community and adventure, these actions aim to inspire a broader audience and drive awareness around plastic pollution.
Over the years, a series of expeditions have taken place in diverse ecosystems, from marine habitats to highly impacted urban waterways. In one of these actions, volunteers worked to remove large amounts of plastic waste from a fragile wetland near Buenos Aires. Equipped with canoes, reusable collection bags and a strong collaborative spirit, the team collected over 300 kg of plastic, helping restore a critical ecosystem while reinforcing the importance of collective action.
Beyond the waste collected, these cleanups create powerful moments of connection and reflection, turning on-the-ground action into long-lasting motivation to reduce plastic pollution and protect natural environments.
EDUCATION #fortheoceans
Over the past six years, Parley Argentina has held more than 300 educational events, reaching over 18,000 participants – both in person and virtually. One of their first achievements was a large-scale cleanup day with 400 students, who helped remove more than 1,500 kg of trash in San Isidro. Today, they organize inter-school cleanups with up to 400 students of different ages and offer educational talks for all levels. If you would like them to give a talk at your school or educational institution in Argentina, please reach out.
EXPEDITIONS
Parley’s expeditions in Argentina explore diverse ecosystems to better understand the environments they aim to protect. From the Argentine Sea to rainforests, rivers and coastal areas, these journeys combine research, community engagement and direct action to address plastic pollution and promote long-term solutions.
Along the Atlantic coast, teams work alongside local communities to explore marine life, assess the impact of plastic pollution and carry out cleanup actions in key habitats. Inland, expeditions have reached protected natural areas such as Iguazú National Park, where Parley teams from Argentina and Brazil came together to host cleanups, connect with local communities and visit regenerative agroforestry projects in the surrounding rainforest.
Across all expeditions, the focus goes beyond waste removal. These experiences strengthen regional collaboration, support local initiatives and build shared knowledge to protect ecosystems, even in places that may seem remote, but are still deeply connected to the global plastic pollution crisis.
OCEAN IMMERSION
We protect what we love, and we only love what we truly know. Ocean Immersion is Parley’s program designed to connect people with the ocean through direct, meaningful experiences that foster awareness, respect and long-term commitment to marine protection.
Through a variety of immersive activities, participants are invited to experience the ocean and coastal environments firsthand. From surf trips with volunteers to nautical activities in the Río de la Plata, these experiences create a deep, personal bond with the water, transforming it from a distant landscape into a living ecosystem worth protecting.
Ocean Immersion goes beyond recreation. Each activity is an opportunity to learn about marine ecosystems, the challenges they face—particularly plastic pollution—and the role individuals and communities play in driving change. By combining action, education and emotional connection, the program helps build a growing community of ocean advocates committed to protecting our waters for future generations.
ART AND MUSEUM PROGRAM
Parley Argentina seeks to create a meaningful connection between people and the ocean by highlighting both its beauty and the challenges it faces through artistic and interactive experiences. These initiatives use creativity as a powerful tool to translate complex environmental issues into emotional, accessible and engaging formats.
Through immersive installations, sensory environments and participatory artworks, visitors are invited to experience the ocean in new ways: seeing, hearing and feeling its presence beyond traditional educational spaces. Art becomes a bridge between information and emotion, helping to raise awareness around plastic pollution and ocean conservation while inspiring reflection and action.
By blending art, storytelling and interaction, these experiences aim to spark curiosity, dialogue and collective responsibility, transforming awareness into a deeper commitment to protecting marine ecosystems.

Parley’s global network works to protect marine environments from plastic pollution and other threats. Through collaborative cleanups with local businesses and organizations, our teams and volunteers intercept plastic waste from beaches, remote islands, rivers, mangroves and coastal communities. Each country team shares our vision for healthier oceans globally, and works locally to champion the Parley AIR Strategy.
Since the inception of Parley for the Oceans, our teams and volunteers have intercepted over 10 million kg of debris and cleaned 2.4 million square meters of coastline. We’ve also launched an extensive educational program, both virtual and physical. Our global cleanups
and educational initiatives have reached over 1 million participants across 66 different countries and counting.
