Sailing for the Oceans is an itinerant hub of Parley Brazil – a collaborative environment and a floating laboratory to explore ideas, practices and solutions to address plastic pollution and climate change.

Through sailing expeditions, the crew experiences an immersive journey: the boat as an educational platform, following the rhythms of nature, praising diversity and challenging themselves to live Zero Waste.

An educational program is designed in collaboration with each crew and community, and may include:

  • Parley talks

  • Hands-on discussions and workshops

  • Beach and coastal cleanups

  • Yoga, surfing, snorkelling, diving and other activities

  • Beach cinema

For each expedition, Parley invites a new crew composed of individuals with diverse backgrounds: community leaders, decision makers, public authorities, environmental enthusiasts, athletes and artists. To ensure a safe, authentic and impactful experience, Parley deploys a Parley team composed of a captain, an educator(s), a skipper and a First Aider.

Through experiential learning, the crew will be immersed in the basics of sailing and of life aboard. Using the ship as a microcosm for the world, the team will work through the challenges of living in close quarters recognizing the possibilities of taking the lessons learned onboard back to land.

During the journey the crew will focus on following the Parley AIR Strategy – Avoiding, Intercepting and Redesigning a plastic-free world. By practicing a waste-free lifestyle and conscious diet, we will avoid plastics and reduce our CO2 contributions. By executing cleanups on the water and on coastlines, we intercept plastic pollution from further harming the environment. By discussing ways to improve our lifestyles, government policies and the products we all use and create, we redesign our world for the better.
