Parley Mexico Initiatives
Quintana Roo
Waste to art Pavilion, Cozumel
This collaborative effort between Parley, Roth Architecture, and the local community of Cozumel aims to create an open gallery that serves to inspire and communicate to locals and tourists, through compelling art projects and installations. It is designed to tell a story about Cozumel as a Biosphere Reserve and the importance of the Mesoamerican Reef system, the threats that endanger its preservation and actions that visitors and locals can take to preserve it.
AIR Tourism Marine Debris Mitigation Initiative
The Parley AIR Tourism Marine Debris Mitigation Initiative, supported by NOAA, focuses on the tourism sector in the Mexican Caribbean islands. The program aims to raise awareness about plastic pollution and reduce plastic consumption in tourism and hospitality businesses operating in Cozumel and Isla Mujeres (plastic exclusion zones). Program components include collaborating with local businesses, awareness and education, and community collaboration.
Parley Mexico
Parley Mexico currently operates in multiple locations across the Yucatán Peninsula – working in collaboration with more than 30 local groups, government institutions, universities, social organizations and the private sector. As a hotspot for biodiversity, the interception of marine plastic pollution is crucial to the survival of endangered species in this beautiful region.
