We’re proud to announce a new alliance with Save the Waves Coalition to drive awareness and activism among the sea’s best sentinels: surfers. The partnership kicked off with the world tour launch of the Save The Waves Film Festival on August 4 in the world surfing reserve of Ericeira, Portugal. As the world’s only environmental surf film festival, much of the content is about raising awareness of coastal ecosystems and ocean health — and of the people worldwide depending on both.
Save the Waves Coalition protects coastal ecosystems around the world in partnership with local communities, utilizing a unique combination of protected areas, economics, and direct action. Collaborating under the Parley Ocean Plastic Program and A.I.R. Strategy, we can bring greater awareness to the threats facing our most vital ecosystem and engage a wider community in the movement towards long-term solutions.

Beginning this summer, the Save The Waves Festival will travel along the US eastern seaboard before beginning a west coast tour in November. The next stop is Virginia Beach on August 19, followed by several stops along the coasts of New Jersey and New York.
Save The Waves Film Festival is only the beginning. We look forward to extending the Parley x Save The Waves alliance beyond the screen, and to more projects and progress across all levels towards a plastic-free ocean. Together we can bring the unique challenges facing coastal ecosystems to a global audience.
