Making waves in Waikīkī hospitality with the Parley AIR Strategy
The Twin Fin Hotel along the coast of Waikīkī on Oahu is the first hotel in Hawaii to join the Parley Hospitality Program, committing to help protect Hawaiʻi’s beaches and coastlines with our collaborative, eco-innovative approach and Parley AIR Strategy: Avoid. Intercept. Redesign.
Together we’ll address and reduce plastic waste, harness creativity and imagination to honor the beauty and fragility of the oceans, and empower hotel guests and employees to take action for the oceans.
As part of the partnership, the newly revamped Twin Fin took the Parley AIR pledge as its first step towards eliminating single-use plastics from the hotel. Throughout the next year, we’ll host educational programs and talks featuring Parley collaborators and guest speakers, garner support and funding for our global plastic interception and ocean education operations via in-room Parley Shop options, feature collaborative exhibits in hotel spaces, and will conduct a five-part beach cleanup series.
To celebrate the kickoff to our collaboration alongside the launch of the newly revitalized hotel, Parley and Twin Fin hosted a series of events on February 24, 2023, beginning with a traditional Hawaiian blessing, a community beach cleanup and a vegetarian lunch.
Later in the evening, we hosted a private panel discussion at The Twin Fin with reflections on the Eddie Aikau Invitational.
Included in the panel were professional big wave surfers Ramon Navarro, Paige Alm, Emi Erikson, Kohl Christensen, and 2023 Eddie Winner and local lifeguard Luke Sheperdson.
