The print Untitled, made exclusively for Parley, is part of the series of soap bubble paintings made famous by Jiří “Georg” Dokoupil. The works are created using a unique painting technique that has been developed over decades and is as complex as it is fascinating: when soap bubbles impregnated with pigments and diamond dust burst onto canvas or paper, they leave impressions and thus become an application of paint themselves. With these individual traces of uncontrollable matter, the artist turns the fleeting nature of beauty into a permanent event.

100% sales proceeds go to the Parley for the Oceans Clean-Up Network.

Jiří “Georg” Dokoupi, born in 1954, is one of today's unmistakable color and form artists. Since the late 1970s he has been producing works on canvas and paper that do not use conventional painterly means and instead use candle soot, car tires, fruit, foam or soap bubbles. The German-Czech artist, who to this day rejects any style, gained international fame as a representative of the Neue Wilden of the 1980s at the 40th Venice Biennale and documenta 7. Today he is represented in numerous international collections, including the Museum Ludwig Cologne, the Sonnabend Collection in New York, the Kunsthaus Zurich, the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles and the Stuttgart State Gallery. A large exhibition took place in Hamburg's Deichtorhallen in 2005.

Parley’s Global Cleanup Network

Plastic is a design failure that pollutes every part of our planet, from the highest summit to the deepest trench. It's in the water we drink, the air we breathe, the food we eat and our own bodies. Meanwhile, plastic production continues to climb and a truckload of trash enters the oceans every minute.

Parley’s Global Cleanup Network operates worldwide, taking direct action against marine plastic pollution, developing education programs and building out upcycling infrastructure. Parley teams and partners clear plastic waste from beaches, remote islands, rivers, mangroves and coral reefs — and intercept plastic waste in coastal and island communities. Collaboration is at the core of Parley’s history and future. Our impact is collectively achieved with the help of many individuals, organizations and communities who share our mission to protect the oceans and work tirelessly to drive change at a local, national and global level.

Parley’s teams, collaborators and volunteers share our vision for solutions and champion the Parley AIR Strategy: AVOID. INTERCEPT. REDESIGN. Going beyond regular cleanups, we respond to plastic emergencies, create education and employment opportunities and implement programs to end the cycle of pollution.

Parley for the Oceans was founded in the heart of the art community, with early supporters like Julian Schnabel and Ed Ruscha creating new work in solidarity with our organization and our cause. Parley has since expanded our program and collaborated on projects ranging from underwater sculptures to sustainable surfboards with leading contemporary artists including Katharina Grosse, Doug Aitken, Bharti Kher, Jenny Holzer, Pipilotti Rist, Walton Ford, Rosemarie Trockel, Keiichi Tanaami, Kenny Scharf and others.

Fostering collaboration within and beyond the art world, Parley works with artists and galleries to raise awareness for the beauty and fragility of our oceans – and collaborates on large-scale projects to help end their destruction.
