At Parley our mission is to rapidly transform human-made materials and systems to work in harmony with the ecosystem of nature. Parley aims to inspire and empower an impactful participation in the environmental cause. We address today’s biggest ocean threats with initiatives that combine science, art, fashion, design, technology, finance, entertainment, sport, and ocean exploration. The only way forward is together — and there is no greater unifier than the life force that connects us all: the oceans.
Parley sees long-term solutions in a Material Revolution where materials such as plastic are being replaced with new and non-toxic alternatives. To boost solutions, Parley devised a scalable strategy called Parley AIR (Avoid, Intercept, Redesign) and introduced Parley Ocean Plastic®, a catalyst material made from intercepted and upcycled plastic waste that can replace virgin plastic, generate awareness, and fund initiatives focused on direct impact, education, material science, and eco-innovation. Under the name Parley Future Material®, Parley introduces natural materials, biofabrication and green chemistry as alternatives to conventional and often harmful material standards.
Future Material®
Parley is on a mission to drive the Material Revolution by reworking and showcasing the possibilities for future materials used in the fashion industry. The ultimate goal is to develop new materials that can replace harmful substances in every industry, function in symbiosis with the planet and biodegrade in conditions which are actually found in nature.
This revolution would not be possible without an extensive research and development program carried out in collaboration with our global network of material experts, innovators and inventors, including those showcased here: Bananatex®, TômTex, Ponda and Nature Coatings. Together, Parley and our partners are exploring how to best scale these bio-fabricated materials to establish new industry standards — learning to design in harmony with nature to drive the Material Revolution forward.
Bananatex® is the world’s first durable, technical, biodegradable and plastic-free fabric made purely from the naturally grown Abacá banana plants. Cultivated in the Philippine highlands within a natural ecosystem of sustainable mixed agriculture and forestry, the plant is sturdy and self- sufficient, requiring no pesticides, fertilizer or extra water. These qualities have allowed it to contribute to reforestation in areas of former rainforest that were once cleared for logging, whilst enhancing biodiversity and the economic prosperity of local farmers.
TômTex is a pioneer material science company, creating innovative, eco-friendly textiles from waste, not fossil fuels. The cutting-edge platform challenges traditional oil-based methods, ushering in a new era of sustainable, green chemistry for the material industry. TômTex Series M, made from mushroom chitosan, is 100% plant-based. TômTex is dedicated to environmental responsibility, ensuring its product is completely free from plastics and harmful chemicals.
Ponda is a biomaterials company developing novel textiles from truly regenerative fibres. Ponda connects the regeneration of some of the most precious ecosystems to the production of responsible materials for the textiles industry. The company believes in empowering fashion brands to weave regeneration into the clothes we wear.
Nature Coatings transforms wood waste into high-performing black pigments for textiles, printing inks, paint, automotive and more. BioBlack pigments are fully traceable from FSC certified sources, are carbon negative and are free of carcinogens, like benzene, found on other black pigments. BioBlack is a plug and play solution for any manufacturer using pigments. And perhaps the best part is that BioBlack is cost competitive.
“We believe that we can end the toxic age by inventing, by designing our way out of this epic crisis. Together, we are establishing a New Economy where plastic and other toxic substances will be relics of the past, replaced by natural materials, biofabrication and green chemistry. For the Oceans, Climate and Life!”

PARLEY OCEAN PLASTIC®
Developed by Parley and our network of material scientists, Parley Ocean Plastic® is a range of premium materials for the sports, fashion, design and luxury industries made from intercepted and upcycled marine plastic debris.
To raise global awareness of the threat of marine plastic pollution while catalyzing solutions, Parley invented Parley Ocean Plastic®, a range of premium materials made from intercepted and upcycled marine plastic debris.
Parley Ocean Plastic® provides a replacement for virgin plastic materials across a range of applications and allows for the implementation of our long-term strategy: Parley AIR — Avoid, Intercept, Redesign. Working with major brands, fashion designers, furniture makers and more, we have created a global supply that continually removes plastic from ocean-facing island nations and transforms it into Symbols of Change — products that support the cause and our long-term vision for a Material Revolution.
