Parley is proud to parter for the 2019 International Ocean Film Tour, a traveling festival of films showcasing the best in ocean adventure, water sports action and environmental documentaries. Beginning March 2019, the tour will travel to cities all over the globe.

This year’s line-up, Volume 6, includes Chasing the Thunder – Ocean Warriors, a documentary directed by Mark Benjamin and Marc Levin, both speakers at our 2018 World Oceans Week celebration. Chasing the Thunder tells the heroic true story of Operation Icefish, a record-breaking Sea Shepherd campaign to thwart notorious toothfish poachers on the high seas (also the story behind the illegal gill nets used in the first limited-edition adidas x Parley shoes). The film follows two Sea Shepherd captains, Peter Hammarstedt and Sid Chakravarty, as they boldly lead their volunteer crews in an epic 110-day, 10,000 mile chase of the renegade vessel Thunder through remote waters off the Southern Ocean. Their story is one of courage, conviction and purpose — an inspiring example of action on the front lines of marine conservation.

Parley founder Cyrill Gutsch and Sea Shepherd founder Captain Paul Watson joined the tour’s March 17th premiere in Hamburg via video conference to discuss the state of the oceans and why anger alone won’t end the destruction (read their interview here). Big wave surfer Greg Long also took the stage at the premier to tell the story of the wave that changed his life, his journey as a Parley ambassador, and how and why he is inspired to protect the oceans today.

Other featured films include: Julie; 700 Sharks; Andy Irons - Kissed by God; Trouble: The Lisa Andersen Story; Surfer Dan; and Blown Away.
