Exploring our Global Impact
Our annual impact highlights takes a deep dive into how we're expanding education programs, fostering new partnerships and pioneering a Material Revolution
The vast blue expanse spanning more than seven-tenths of the globe is a living ecosystem that connects us all. Within that realm, in the largest habitat on Earth, are wonders that we have yet to see and may never fully understand. Each discovery — be it new-to-us life forms along hydrothermal vents, ‘dark oxygen’-producing metallic nodules on the seabed or coral reef ecosystems found thriving despite declining conditions — delivers a reminder that our terrestrial perspectives are limited. Most of our home is, for the most part, unknown. We have the tools to explore and protect it like no previous generation. For that reason, it’s an exciting moment tobe alive and a part of the effort to write a new chapter for humanity. Whether we are telling a story or building one with the support of our global teams and partners, everything we do at Parley revolves around collaboration. Our work is possible because enough people care about something that connects us all.
We’ve learned a lot in our first 12 years of Parley, and 2024 launched us into a new era of innovation and impact, which we’re excited to build on. Among recent milestones, we expanded our ocean education programs at our Parley AIR Stations, in schools, online, and through Ocean Uprise, our initiative led by and for young environmentalists. We celebrated new partnerships and industry alliances, while growing our collective impact with the support of our network. We put the power of fashion and media behind ocean initiatives that prioritize science, conservation, education and community, while continuing our commitment to combating plastic through innovation guided by the Parley AIR Strategy.
Gathering with creators, thinkers and leaders at events and exhibitions, we spotlighted the material innovations that are revolutionizing the material world and replacing harmful standards – and we’ll have some very exciting news on that front in 2026. As we worked, we collectively grappled with the state of the planet. Together we bore witness to devastating extremes in every month of the second consecutive hottest year on record. From deadly storms and flash flooding to unrelenting heatwaves and drought, unnatural disasters were made all the more catastrophic by human-driven climate change. Ocean heat also smashed records, including a 15-month hottest-ever temperature spree until the second-warmest July broke the unprecedented streak.
To everyone who takes action for the oceans, thank you for reminding us of the good that can still be done and the many pathways that remain to solutions. To our collaborators, crew, supporters and volunteers, thank youfor helping this movement exist and evolve. We have so much to learn from each other and our common life-support system. We’re honored to continue this work alongside thousands of collaborators and peers who share our mission and the vision of a better future. We’re excited to create more positive change in the months and years ahead.
